Nature pulls an April Fools' prank . . .

. . . and dumps 6 inches of very wet snow on us.

It was the kind of wet snow that covered the north face of street signs. My tall aster stems* are laden with snow and touching the ground. It's really pretty outside, but c'mon, it's April. Enough already!

My camera is up north with my wife and kids. Assuming that the sun doesn't melt it all today, I'll get some photos posted tomorrow.

April 2 photo:

*The aster stems are dry, left over from last year's growth. I leave them up through the winter to add a little vertical interest to the garden.

Hi Peter - it was gorgeous out this morning - and I keep telling myself that spring snows are wonderful for the gardens - but I really want to be out there digging in the dirt!!

Your lilac buds and tulip sprouts are sure signs - it won't be long. I love the longer days - and stronger sunlight.

I feel torn... The snow is so beautiful, but I am dying to get my hands dirty! I did a little seed starting over the weekend... No sign of my tulips just yet...

I have had enough snow also. We just got rain and high winds today. We will probably get more white stuff this week!!
