Ginger flower

Wild Ginger, Asarum canadense, is an odd plant. Its flowers appear at ground level, beneath the foliage.

Weird...Who pollinates it, I wonder?

I love ginger. The flowers are so unusual. Is yours a native?

I don't know if this is a true native or not. That is, the plant is native to these parts, but I don't know about the seed source.

Most likely, I purchased this at the U of M Horticulture student sale a few years back.

I've never seen a ginger like that, but it proves my theory - they are all cool!

Wicked, I saw a photo of your ginger plant on your blog. They look like two completely different species. Do you know the Latin name for yours?
